Today, DVFilm (dvfilm.com) releases the latest version of DVFilm Atlantis for Mac.
For 10 years, DVFilm Atlantis has been the go-to application for converting between PAL and NTSC while maintaining the best quality possible. With techniques like motion-sensitive deinterlacing of 50i to 25, followed by pulldown to 60i, Atlantis for Mac yields high quality results at an affordable price.
Today, Atlantis for Mac 2.2 introduces HD support and several new conversions. This is a free update for all existing Atlantis for Mac users or is available for purchase for $75 dollars from DVFilmStore.com.
It is now possible to convert between 50Hz and 60Hz HD formats, as well as between PAL and NTSC. You can convert 60i to 25p, 50i to 24p, 50i to 60i, 24p to 25p, and 25p to 24p in both HD and SD formats. Atlantis can also remove 3:2 pulldown from 60i and convert the result to 25p.
If the compression format is DV, DVCPRO, DVCPRO50 or DVCPROHD, Atlantis automatically selects the corresponding 50Hz or 60Hz compression format as appropriate (provided the Apple DVCPROHD codecs are installed).
A table listing all the possible modes is here.
